Sanitary landfills are landfills that ensure disposal activities do not create health or safety hazards to public health or the environment. In sanitary landfills, solid wasters are confined to the smallest practical area, reduced to the smallest practical volume and then covered with a layer of earth. To restore this facility, landfill capping works were done, supply and install by Huls Engineering using geosynthetic materials. Landfill caps do not lessen the toxicity, mobility, or volume of hazardous wastes, but they do limit migration. Landfill caps are most effective where most of the underlying waste is above the water table. A cap must restrict surface water infiltration into the contaminated subsurface to reduce the potential for contaimnants to leach from the site. Part of these landfills were eventually turned into renewable energy farms (solar power plants) which made them reusable lands.
