Taman Beringin Landfill (Using GCL)

PROPOSED RECOVERY AND REUTALIZATION THE SOLID WASTE DISPOSAL SITE OF TAMAN BERINGIN LANDFILL, KUALA LUMPUR

Client: Cypark Sdn Bhd
Products used: Geosynthetic Clay Liner, Geosynthetic Drainage System
Year: 2006

The facility, known as Taman Beringin Landfill is mostly surrounded by residential apartment at the very edge and near surroundings. Landfills operating at the critical stage without any control to prevent environmental pollution. These landfills will be closed once a new landfill begins to operate. To restore this facility, landfill capping works were done, supply and install by Huls Engineering using geosynthetic materials. Landfill capping is a containment technology that forms a barrier between the contaminated media and the surface, thereby shielding humans and the environment from the harmful effects of its contents and perhaps limiting the migration of the contents. A cap must restrict surface water infiltration into the contaminated subsurface to reduce the potential for contaimnants to leach from the site.
